Itinerary
With a warm welcome upon your arrival at Olkiombo Airstrip, our friendly and knowledgeable Maasai Guides will transfer you to the camp. Photograph away as you spot the Big Five and other wildlife, found in the reserve.
Arrive at Basecamp Maasai Mara for lunch, freshly prepared by our team of Maasai chefs. Spend the rest of your afternoon at leisure. Later join your guide for an afternoon safari. Arrive back to camp in time for dinner and overnight stay.
The rosy dawn is the perfect time to observe as Mara’s cycle of life slowly unfolds. Together with your guide, you will head out on a morning and afternoon game drive to explore the rare sights and wonders of the bush.
As the sun sets you will stop over at a scenic spot to enjoy Basecamp sundowner drinks and snacks. Head back to camp for dinner followed by relaxation at the campfire as you let the lull of the savannah soothe you.
Join your guide for a camp tour and learn about some of the operational elements that have made Basecamp Maasai Mara a leading pioneer in responsible tourism. Visit the Enjoolata Awareness Center where we invite all guests to an exciting learning experience about the Maasai Culture.
The centre houses various facilities including exhibition halls, video editing rooms, a library, the Basecamp Maasai Brand workshop all aiming at highlighting the rich blend of the Maasai culture and enhance safari experience for our guests. Top off your walk with a visit to the tree plantation area.
Learn about Basecamp’s reforestation project that is intended to re-wild the Mara. We encourage our guests to contribute to offsetting their carbon footprint by planting a tree at a minimal fee. Later you will be transferred to your next destination Wilderness Camp in Mara Naboisho.
Rise with the wildlife for your morning game drive. You will be treated to the ultimate safari experience within the conservancy since Mara Naboisho boasts of plenty of game viewing and birding opportunities all year round.
You may catch up with the big cats, full after their night hunt. Be alert to capture panoramic shots of the abundance of wildlife from wildebeests, zebras, impalas, and warthogs and see how many of the 300 species of birds you can spot. Return to camp after a night game drive for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, join your Maasai guide for a walking safari across the Savannah. Guided walks are another way to explore the rare sights and wonders of the bush, often missed when in a vehicle. As you walk along, you will also learn about the plants used to make traditional medicine.
The birdlife is equally diverse, ranging from the scavenging vulture and bustard to the magnificent eagle and crested crane. Arrive at Eagle View in time for lunch. Enjoy exceptional views of Naboisho Conservancy from the camp.
Enjoy your morning at leisure. Eagle View overlooks a natural waterhole, which is frequented throughout the day by wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, and antelopes providing plenty of wildlife actions in the comfort of the camp’s environs. After your morning activities, plan to visit Koiyaki Guiding a capacity-building institution supported by Basecamp Explorer.
The school offers a training course for students aspiring to be professional guides. Wind up your day watching the sunset over the African horizon, with a Basecamp sundowner on an evening game drive. When driving back to camp you will have a night game drive experience
Set out on your final game drive in search of those hard-to-spot leopards. After your morning game drive, head back to camp for a hearty breakfast. Enjoy some downtime before you gather your things and say your goodbyes.
Arrive at the airstrip in time to catch your flight to Diani. Upon arrival, you will be met at Ukunda Airstrip and transferred to your Beach Resort. On arrival freshen up and relax perhaps go swimming before dinner. After dinner, settle into your coastal room set facing the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

Equally, if you would prefer relaxing at the hotel you can enjoy both the pool and the beach, stretching out on the sweeping curve of soft sand.
After breakfast, you will be accompanied by your guide to Wasini Island for a day trip (at a minimal fee, inquire during reservation). The island excursion is done aboard an Arabian-style dhow (a traditional style of sailboat). Wasini Island is a gateway to an underwater wonderland.
Water activities like reef snorkeling, scuba diving, and possibly swimming with dolphins are just some of the optional activities to engage in while on the island. In the evening head back to the resort for dinner and to unwind in your beautiful suite, a perfect ending to an eventful day
